Welcome to goEast

On 6th of April the curtain rises for the goEast – Festival of Central and Eastern European Films in one of Germany’s most beautiful cinemas, the Caligari FilmBühne in Wiesbaden. What we expect from you the most this fifth year, dear visitor, is curiosity. Curiosity for strong stories und unknown images. And again we promise no less than broadening your cinematic horizon. The programme offers 118 long and short feature films from 23 countries, amongst them numerous German and international premieres. Furthermore, goEast extends its programme with two new sections: “Signature” and “Portrait”
“Signature” serves as a platform for films of Central and Eastern Europe which strongly challenge our established viewer expectations with an idiosyncratic nature.
Every year from now on “Portrait” enables us to follow the development of an individual film maker, whose artistic career is shaped by political change.

Besides cinema experiences and an extensive supporting programme such as a scientific symposium, panel discussions, exhibitions, readings and parties, goEast offers numerous occasions to meet with film makers and actors.
