SPECIALS

Apart from the sections Competition, Symposium, Highlights, Signature, Portraits and Students’ Films, goEast offers special film-series and events. The film-department of ZDF/3sat will present a selection of documentaries with Eastern European content, while film festivals from Cottbus, Jihlava (Czechoslovakia) and Vrnjacka Banja (Serbia) will each present one film from last year’s program. The Dresden International Festival for Animation and Short Films will introduce animated-films from Estonia. goEast will also, once again, present the School Film Days, addressing high school-students of all ages from the region.
Apart from unusual films, the “Specials” present a series of films by Andrzej Wajda. Hanna Schygulla will be present at the traditional goEast-Matinee and read from her new book „Du ... Augen wie Sterne“ – with Wajdas film EINE LIEBE IN DEUTSCHLAND with Schygulla in the lead being shown subsequently. Other works of the great Polish director and an exhibition of posters for his films, top off the program.
In addition, goEast presents a photographic exhibition focused on Ukraine’s “Orange Revolution” and a panel-discussion about the future of the West Balkans.
