  SILNY KAFE / BITTER COFFEE

SILNY KAFE / BITTER COFFEE
Czech Republic 2004
Director: Börkur Gunnarsson, 85 MIN

A whimsical comedy about love. Maya and Renata have not seen each other for ten years, when they accidentally meet on the street. To mark the occasion they plan a trip to their hometown. Their partners are not too exited about the idea, but Maya and Renata manage to persuade them. An at times hysterical summer-vacation begins, during the course of which the protagonists learn more about themselves than they would have liked to: for example that you don’t need the things you wish for, once you’ve attained them. And how to tell somebody that you love them. The young Icelandic director, who came to the Czech Republic because of love, has made a feisty film about people like himself.
