PROJECT “GENERATION”
Caligari: 24.04. / 11.30 a.m.
The film-project „Generation“ brings together six talented
young directors from Central and Eastern Europe, each of whom will develop
a short-film on the subject of “generation”.
Being part of a generation has become a phenomenon in the post-communist
countries which is about to replace the unity of cultural identity as
the primary social affiliation. Young filmmakers often feel more connected
to their generation than to their own country. The central task of this
project will be to unite the integral force of several films from different
countries, creating one single work – bringing together the artistic
potential of Central and Eastern Europe, creating new structures for production
in those regions and building relationships with Western European or rather
German producers.
“Generation” was created by relations – an initiative
of the “Kulturstiftung des Bundes“ (Federal Cultural Foundation).
“Generation” is a cooperation between relations and ICON film.
Financial partner is Filmstiftung NRW, with Bavaria International on board
as world-sales-organisation. Cooperation with ZDF/Das kleine Fernsehspiel
and Arte is also planned. „Generation“ (Artistic Director:
Nikolaj Nikitin) is pleased to present one short-film by each director
involved during the goEast festival.
