Retrospektive STEFAN LAUDYN

Stefan Laudyn was born February 21, 1959 in Warsaw, Poland, and is director of the Warsaw International Film Festival since 1991. In the 1980s he was involved in Warsaw rock music scene as concert promoter & band manager and one of the organizers of Grand Festival. In 1986 he started working for the Warsaw Film Festival and does it ever since; in 1987 he got an M. Sc. degree in engineering at Warsaw Polytechnics. 1990 he became head of theatrical distribution at ITI, the first Polish distributor to represent US studios (Warner Bros.); until 1994 he worked with Film Art Foundation, where he was responsible for foreign contacts and distribution contracts. In 1995 he founded the Warsaw Film Foundation, which since then organizes the Warsaw Film Festival. Since 1996 he is an expert of Polish Script Agency, and in 2000 he became member of the European Film Academy. Laudyn writes about film for "Gazeta Wyborcza", "Film Pro", "Rezyser", "Machina", "Isskustvo kino" (Russia), "Variety" (USA) and translates dialogue lists. He is involved in the international promotion of Polish films and an advisor to numerous film festivals.
