Howrah
Station is the main station of Calcutta in India and one of Asia's
biggest stations. It's a place full of life and movement, happiness
and misery, extraordinary intensity and extreme contradictions. Howrah
Station is a symbol for the circle of life in an Indian metropolis.
The film was produced during an exchange program between the der HFF
"Konrad Wolf" and the Indian Institute for Film and Television
SRFTI in Calcutta whic was initiated by the Goethe-Institute. Till
Passow has been studying Film- and television Direction at the HFF
"Konrad Wolf" since 1996.

A dynamic model which through repeated change turns into a static
memorial. After a short time a passively delighted lethargy sets
in. What it is that can be seen? Seagulls. A little uneasiness remains.
The sequence shown is part of the video series "v.X.X.",
on which Thorsten Groeger has been workingeit since1999. He has
been studying Free Art and Visual Communication at the Art College
in KAssel since 1996.

Anna Jadowska accompanies two 18-year-old teenagers who live in
a multi-storey building colony in Lodz's industrial area. Both of
them speak of their love for each other and their plans for the
future. The conversation is characterized by the lover's naivety.
Are they being honest or maybe totally "out there"? They
do not seem very deep, that's for sure. Anna Jadowska has been studying
Direction at the PWSFTViT since 1999. ZAKOCHANA PARA is her first
documentary shot in 35mm.

At first sight the music video's images seem to have been picked
inconsequentially. Over time they turn into the favourite themes
of commercial Television. The fast cuts correspond to zapping through
the TV-channel and symbolize the watcher's often short attention
span regarding socially relevant subjects. The video was created
in the framework of the term-project "Learning from the Clip"
at the Hochschule für Gestaltung, where David Hessler and Tobias
Lindner have been studying Visual Communication together since 1999.

A choreography to the music of Pink Alliot, Aphex Twin and Jeansteam, with patterned textiles, drawn classic car collecting cards, and a sportive one-child-family. The clips were created with digitally altered stills. Postcards, digital drawings and scanned surfaces served as models. The video was created in the framework of the term-project "Learning from the Clip" at the Hochschule für Gestaltung, where : Katja Eckert and Mario Stahn have been studying Visual Communication together since 1996.

Four mentally retarded people talk about their work, how much fun
they have there, and how important these tasks are to them. Ivica,
a confessing Heavy-Metal-fan, works as an assistant secretary in
the headquarter of the Help Organization for the Mentally Retarded.
Dodo is an employee with a permanent smile at Mac Donalds. Peter
has gotten a job as a hospital receptionist, and Juraj is an assistant
nurse in a home for the handicapped. In 2001, the film won the audience
award for best documentary at the international Student Film Fest
in Ácko.

"On this day which began as unique as all the others, Hermann Kleber decided to stroll in the park..." This sentence starts Hermann Kleber's journey into spring's world of pleasure. The film was edited in "After Effects". Ütz M. Stocklöw has been studying Visual Communication at the Art College since 1997. In addition to having worked on numerous film projeckts as author, responsible for decor and costumes, cameraman, cutter and director, he has also realized videos for theatre-plays, e.g. in the summer of 2001 for the "Lohengrin"-production at the Wiener Burgtheater.

A day, seen through the eyes of Piotrek, a little boy growing up
on a farm in rural Poland. Piotrek's daily life consists of school,
playing with his little brother or with friends, fulfilling his
duties in the household and doing his homework - late in the evening.
Hanna Sawka has been studying Direction at the PWSFTViT since 1997.
Apart from her studies she works for the Polish Television. Since
the year 2000 she directs a weekly docu-series on unsolved crimes
there.

An imaginary day in the life of an imaginary person in a real location.
Markus Kiefer has been studying Free Creative Art with emphasis
on Film at the Academy of fine Arts since 1999. He is co-founder
of Campus TV there. His numerous experimental filme have been shown
at national and international exhibitions and festivals, among others
in Montpellier, Esch and Los Angeles.

AF 2847 is a short film about flying in modern open-plan planes
and the soul harrrassed by modern transportation vehicles. The flight
is understood here as leaving history on one side. And that's -
according to the film's thesis - is the cheating in flying: Millenniums
disappear in a black hole as if they never existed. Nils Keber has
been studying Free Creative Art with emphasis on Film at the Academy
of fine Arts since 2000. He is co-founder of Campus TV there.

Barbara Medajska observes the stranded ones in the Polish society.
The tragic story tells of homeless men and women who collect minor-quality
coal to survive somehow. The film won numerous awards at international
festivals, such as the jury award for best documentary in 2000 at
the International Documentary- and Shortfilmfestival in Bilbao and
in 2001 at the International Film Festival Palm Springs. Barbara
Medajska has been studying Direction at the PWSFTViT since 1998.

"My seeing is red says the reflection, it's a red thing there
but it's one, - my eye, my seeing is red and the thing." (Hegel).
Thomas Müller studiedVisual Communication at the Art College between
1996 and 2001. During his studies, numerous video works were produced
which were shown at several festivals. Since 1995 he also works
as a self-employed cutter.

The people and their love for the dog: In this documentary, the
proud owners tell their favourite and funniest stories about their
four-legged friends for whom nothing is too expensive: The dog as
a replacement for a child or a pardner. In 2001, the film won several
awards at international fesstivals, e.g. the film journalist's award
for best documentary and the jury award for best camera at the Internationalen
Student Film Fest in Ácko. Martin Keder has been studying Documentary
at the VŠMU since 1997.
